Much loved and critically acclaimed, the London Mela introduces the best in Bollywood, classical music, British Asian urban artists, dance, comedy and cabaret, Asian-influenced street theatre and circus, as well as exhibitions. And, with a third of the audience from non-Asian communities, it is a truly intercultural family event with something for every generation of every community.
This year’s event features a free festival in a day featuring British Asian and international artists across three major stages, complemented by the mouth-watering Tastes of Asia Food Market and bursting with heaps of exciting and colourful entertainment for the whole family.
Gunnersbury Park has been the London Mela’s home since 2003. It’s a beautiful park, which is in the middle of being regenerated via funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Ealing and Hounslow Councils. It’s often used as a film location – Bend it like Beckham was filmed there.
